Street Dance Fit - A KS2 Dance Unit
This comprehensive upper KS2 street dance scheme enables Year 6 pupils to explore contemporary urban dance whilst developing fitness and understanding the science of keeping healthy.
Over five flexible teaching phases, students develop advanced performing, creating and appreciating skills through high-energy, challenging dance activities.
The unit uniquely combines physical education with science (keeping healthy), allowing pupils to experience and understand how exercise impacts body function. Students learn three warm-up sequences (cardio, general, stretch) and apply this knowledge to create their own fitness-focused warm-ups. They master street dance basic moves, learn a complete street dance sequence, and choreograph their own group dances incorporating challenge moves.
The scheme emphasises physical fitness, strength, stamina and coordination whilst teaching choreographic devices systematically. With contemporary music tracks (Bruno Mars, Major Lazer, Avicii), comprehensive warm-up videos, technical instruction, and structured peer evaluation tools, this resource provides everything needed to deliver high-quality, fitness-focused street dance education at upper KS2 level.
Ideal for: Year 6 teachers, upper KS2 coordinators, PE specialists, dance teachers, science coordinators, trainee teachers, PSHE coordinators, and educators delivering health and fitness topics.
Special Features:
Fitness focus linking to keeping healthy curriculum
Three distinct warm-up sequences (cardio, general, stretch)
Pupil-created warm-ups demonstrating applied knowledge
Contemporary street dance style appealing to Year 6
Challenge moves for differentiation
High-energy, engaging content
